Made in Cameroon with the traditional decorative technique of multicolored glass beads, this head reproduces the famous effigies of sovereigns. Meticulously applied on a terracotta surface, the beads accentuate the royal features and headdress with contrasting colors.
In African art, the artistic movement of which these sculptures are part owes its name to the ancient religious capital of Nigeria, Ife, one of the city-states established by the Yoruba. This civilization succeeded the Nok civilization. This city-state of Ile-Ife, whose heyday culminated between the 12th and 15th centuries, had an artistic tradition of royal portraits impregnated with realism, bronze funerary effigies also in terracotta.
It is a unique piece, with great artistic value and very decorative. Ideal for lovers of art and exclusive pieces.
